Q: If I rent the notebook will I own the notebook outright at any time?

A: The short answer is no. This program is a rental to you. All notebooks are owned by micanthross pty limited who provides the program. You have the right to use the notebook for as long as you continue to meet your rental obligations. When you no longer want the notebook, or no longer make your rental payments, then your right to use the notebook will also cease and you will be responsible for returning the notebook and making us whole for any amounts outstanding at that time.

Q: Can I load any other software onto the notebook?

A: Yes. You can load additional software and applications onto the notebook. You must however ensure that you comply with the software or application provider’s licence and terms and conditions of use. When you no longer require the notebook, it will be your responsibility to uninstall any applications, software or data that you have loaded, before it is returned to us.

Q: What if the notebook stops working, what do I do then?

A: If you rent the notebook it comes to you with a limited 3 month warranty on the hardware from the date it is made available to you. If you take the notebook and it does not work, please contact us immediately within the 3 month period and we will arrange a replacement for you. After the 3 month period, you will be responsible for any repairs etc to the unit. Please contact us if this does occur prior to proceeding with any repairs as we may be able to provide you with the details of a preferred repairer. Please note that any additional software, applications or devices that you install or use with the notebook, are your responsibility, and not that of econotebook or the provider of the program (micanthross pty limited). If you buy the unit outright it has a 1 month limited warranty.

Q: Can I claim the Education Tax Refund if the notebook is used primarily for the kids’ education?

A: The outright purchase or rental payments may qualify for the tax refund scheme. A rental payment has been defined as an eligible expense. However, it is your own tax status which will determine whether you are able to claim the rental amount under this program. As the requirements for eligibility are dependant on your personal circumstances, you will need to consult your tax advisor. We have included a link to the ATO website www.educationtaxrefund.gov.au/ which may give you some further information.

Q: What if I still want to use the notebook, but am experiencing some financial difficulties?

A: Please contact us as soon as possible and we will try and work with you to find a solution.
